Classics are some of my favourite books to read. I think some of them truly deserve all the praise and love that they receive. Here are a few interesting ones that you might not have heard of.
1. We Have Always Lived in the Castle by Shirley Jackson
Talk about classic gothic/horror that is soooooo insanely underappreciated! This masterpiece will keep you flipping the pages. Set in the real world, with situations that could potentially come true, this eerie story might not jump scare you with clowns, but it sure will keep you on your toes and contemplating life!
2. A Modest Proposal by Jonathan Swift
Wowwwww!!! Talk about a statement of it's time! This essay that Swift composed perfectly delivers his smart message in a quick witted and intelligently hidden pros. He seems to be appealing to the general public, but only people who agree with his true statements and opinions will understand the intentions that is behind this essay. To be completely honest, I didn't understand it myself the first time I read it, so this may be one that you'd wanna reread frequently😏.
3. Maurice by E.M. Forster
If there is one recommendation you take off of this list, this one is the one!! This is a fantasticcccccccccccccccccccccc novel about love, acceptance, and the lgbt community that was written in 1913, but wasn't actually published until 1971 due to obvious reasons. It is such a powerful novel about love, and what it was like especially to live as an lgbtq member during past times where homosexuality was never even considered to be real, let alone, accepted in any capacity. Such an amazing, beautiful, powerful read. If there's one recommendation you take off of this list, this is the one!
