Heyyyyyy everyone! Welcome to the first post in our blog! In this section, I just want to talk all about books and the positive influence they can have in your everyday life. Many of us are all very stressed and worried about what the future may bring, but diving headfirst into a great story that will capture your attention and completely absorb you is a distraction I feel that many may need in our lives right now. Without further ado, let me recommend some that I have personally been loving.
Fantasy
Personally, fantasy is one of my absolute favourite genres. It is the perfect way to suck yourself into a whole new world and to get away with any troubles you may be facing in your day to day life. Here are a few that I absolutely love!
Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling
Magical wizard boy gets to go to a magic school filled with wizardry, friendship, and battling evil
The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare
Demons, angels, forbidden love, magic, all mixed together with some fantastic characters and complex villains
The Land of Stories by Chris Colfer
Fairytales seen in a new light, fun middle grade series filled with your favourite fairytale characters, loveable main protagonists and plot twists and turns that will keep you reading
Historical Fiction
Historical fiction is a genre that I have recently been really interested in, and one that always manages to make me cry. So if you're looking for a book that will make you feel all the feels, this genre is perfect for you!
The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah
A harrowing and beautiful tale about two sister's trying to survive in the midst of Nazi Germany that celebrates the resilience of the human spirit and the durability of women.
The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini
A sweeping story of family, love, and friendship told against the devastating backdrop of the history of Afghanistan over the last thirty years, an unforgettable, heartbreaking story of the unlikely friendship between a wealthy boy and the son of his father’s servant.
The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid
A glamorous romp through Hollywood in its heyday, Taylor Jenkins Reid's latest offers up several unexpected twists and a dazzling ambitious movie star who will break your heart
But seriously, if you are to only take one recommendation off of this entire list, THIS IS THE ONE! I promise it will not disappoint, you will fall head over heels in love with this story!!
Classics
Now I know some people are rather turned off by classics. But trust me, once you find the niche that you enjoy, YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO STOP!! Down below are some of my favourites from a variety of genres.
Little Women by Louisa May Alcott
Perfect for fans of contemporary fiction, family drama, and romance!!
“Don't try to make me grow up before my time…”
The Lord of the Rings
Classic fantasy at it's finest. The heart and soul of the genre, and the place that started it all!
"I would rather share one lifetime with you than face all the Ages of this world alone."
Frankenstein by Mary Shelley
The world's most famous work of horror fiction, and remains a devastating exploration of the limits of human creativity
“Life, although it may only be an accumulation of anguish, is dear to me, and I will defend it.”
Hopefully you found this list somewhat useful and not completely pointless! I hope that all of you may find peace and solace in your lives, and check out some of these amazing books!! In the comments down below, tell us some of your favourite books and the ones that you're excited to pick up next!!
